The Goshen Market Foundation started planting early this Spring to make sure the Beet Box would be chock full of veggie goodness when it comes to a stop near you on June 8!
Goshen Market Manager and founding Foundation board member Candice Watson and her son Wyatt have been busy filling their own garden with heirloom tomatoes, tomatillos, and the hardiest of greens to help ensure there will be enough to supply our customers in this time of scarcity. Candice is using sustainable methods like rain catchments and companion planting and avoiding all chemical pesticides.
The Beet Box is still finalizing some of its planned stops for the year and planning expanded services, so expect more announcements soon.
Because food access has become an even more pressing issue during the pandemic, the Beet Box will be moving to a pay-what-you-can model in the hopes that some customers will donate to support the initiative.
The Beet Box will have new social distancing measures in place. This year, produce will remain on the truck and customers will order from a menu rather than handling produce at a front table, for instance.
