Market on Wheels Donation Challenge

$50 of $25,000 raised

In an effort to increase access to fresh, local produce and more comprehensive nutrition education to underserved residents, the Goshen Market Foundation, in partnership with students and faculty from SIUE, plans to hit the road with a Market on Wheels. The Market on Wheels is a truck outfitted with refrigerated storage, stocked with affordably priced produce, meats, and dairy. It will visit neighborhoods, schools, and community centers in our region that are currently lacking access to fresh produce as a result of transportation limitations, health issues, or food-desert conditions.

The Market on Wheels will be conducting cooking demonstrations, healthy snack workshops for children and parents, and recipe distribution (featuring meal plans using available produce) at various stops along its routes.

The designated route will include several stops per week, including (but not limited to) SIUE student housing, senior living facilities, low- and mixed-income housing developments, non-profit healthcare providers, city parks, and the facilities of other organizations that promote food access/are dedicated to the promotion of health and human services.

The Goshen Market Foundation needs to raise $25,000 by February to buy and retrofit the vehicle. Please help us meet our goal during this holiday season!
